The odd case of Citicasters DBA WDAF-TV v. McCaskill is mentioned in chapter 9 (see pages 328-329. Here a couple of tourists from Texas sold their home video of a murder accidentally witnessed to a local TV station, whose studio was searched that night by the local police. Even though the affidavit in support of the warrant was defective, there was no Privacy Protection Act violation, the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals held.  Nightline devoted an entire program to the incident.  Here is the portion of the program that focused on the actual footage from the tourists' video camera, the key artifact at both the homicide trial and the later case brought against the then-DA --now Senator McCaskill.
